Exodus

Gaza is one of the most crowded urban places in the world and is subject to constant human rights violations- a giant jail of one and a half million civilians. As an Israeli and as a human being I can not stay silent about the disgraceful human conditions which are forced on the Palestinians people. In January 2008 a section of the wall with the Egyptian border was knocked down, allowing a free movement in and out Gaza for a short time.

The name of the piece- Exodus appears intentionally as a mirror image. It reflects on one of the most essential aspect in the Jewish narrative. The descriptions of the Exodus- the escape to freedom – are always followed by an explanation of the purpose of that experience which is: the awareness that if you were a subject to humiliation, and predicaments, do what ever is possible to prevent reproducing these conditions on others.
